Ramona Hotel Ramona Hotel left California several years ago and headed east bringing her vast collection of bottlecaps with her. She settled in a rural area of Western North Carolina and set up her studio in a room in her house. There she matches her rich imagination with the materials at hand and photos she collects of famous characters, and she combines them all in her delightfully creative character pins. There’s James Dean sporting the Rebel beer bottlecap. And Vincent Van Gogh with an ear charm (milagro) dangling from his hand. There’s Botticelli’s Venus with brillo pad hair and Marilyn Monroe with the head of a president in tow. Some are painted, some are studded with nuts & bolts, but all of these kinetic pins bear witness to Ramona Hotel’s sharp wit and vibrant creativity |
