Amanda Riddle

Amanda Riddle was born in 1976 in Fairhope, Alabama. She began drawing people at the age of 24 months, and she sold her first commercial piece--a drawing of an angel--at age 10.

She spent her middle school days designing sets for high school plays and beauty pagents. In high school, she did more of the same, winning the Art Award her senior year for the school. After graduation, she attended the University of Montevallo and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. Though not a self-taught artist, Amanda brings a freshness of vision and and energetic approach to her painting that is reminiscent of artists who have had no formal training. She paints in oil, usually on canvas, and enjoys exploring texture and line through the incorporation of other media besides paint.
