Ann Frantic

If it were up to Ann she would have us delete her biography. Extremely private and humble in nature, she created everyday in solitude, trying to make a living doing the one thing she knows best how to do: paint.

After twenty-five years of finding her voice through her paint brush, she delicately and quietly shared, "I love to scribble." Her images range from being wildly and playfully humorous to almost somberly spiritual and iconoclastic in nature.

She used the old masters, from Rousseau to Gauguin, as a point of reference for her images. Also affected by her Catholic background, Cirque du Soleil performance artists, and even images from our own American Folk postcards, her subconscious fusion of everyday events and images with extraordinary color and settings created portraits with a mystical flair.

Recently, she had begun incorporating three-dimensional, hand-built clay pieces into her work. She is also known for her beautifully hand-painted curiosity boxes. Ann passed away in her home in Pensacola, Florida on February 11th, 2009. With the support and stewarding of her family we will continue to represent Ann and her wonderful work.
