Bruce New

Bruce New is a self taught artist, born in 1970 and raised in Kentucky. He has been a full time artist since the age of 25.

As a child he filled notebooks with drawings. Later, he collected maps, old books, and ephemera which he pulled apart, manipulated, and eventually reconstructed. Combining symbols,iconography, words and drawings satisfied his need to express himself.

His work is greatly inspired by his wife, Robin, and includes imagery sybolic of her. The viewer is engaged by the infectious layers of love he pours into his collages.

In the artist's words, "My work is an attempt to document my existence - to leave a visual record of my thoughts, ideas, and fantasies. I reside in the wilds of Kentucky, with a bird and our son, on a mountaintop, right next to the sun, where I create my artwork high on butterfly wine."
