Eric Legge
A self-taught painter from north Georgia, Eric Legge has been steadily gaining renown amongst folk art collectors over the last few years
and has attracted the attention of international outsider art magazine Raw Vision. His work is a feast of bold colors and magical compositions
with simple themes-landscapes, still life, Americana, figures, and faces. Overall, Eric's work, like the work of other notable folk artists
such as Jimmy Lee Sudduth and Leonard Jones, is rendered in a spirit of joy and light-heartedness that leaves the viewer feeling the same.
Above all, Eric's intuitive sense of color brings a richness to his paintings not often found in folk or fine art.
Eric paints every day now and has for the past six years. It is his habit to put on a pot of coffee at 9 or 10 pm and paint through the
night in his studio, which is an "amended" mobile home, minimally furnished and covered from floor to ceiling with his own favorite paintings
as well as the artwork of many other folk artists he has met over the years and who inspire him. He never seems to forget how he got his
start-selling his paintings on the streets of Atlanta for a minimal amount. Even today, with galleries and collectors investing regularly in
his work, Eric aims to keep his art accessible to everyone.
