Ivy Billiot

Ivy Billiot is a self-taught artist who carves and paints everything from the animals in his local, Houma Louisiana, woods and waterways, to human figures and Biblical scenes. Influenced by Houma Indian carvings and the work of his father Cyril Billiot, also a carver, Ivy went on to refine his sculpture in his own unique way. Single and now in his fifties, Ivy has carved full time since the mid 1980's, prior to that he worked as a chain saw operator.

Ivy used primarily tupelo and bass wood, but also does some works in cypress or white pine. His paints are acrylic based and he often used a glaze overcoat.
