2024: Vessels of Abundance
Today (Wed. Oct 2nd) I was supposed to open a show called Vessels of Abundance, but instead I was washing laundry in the little creek that runs along our property.
Gratefulness is all around us right now…our home in Beacon Village was spared, all of our people are safe, and the gallery is in fine shape. I have family and community to look after in this strange time, so it may be a few days yet until a sense of normalcy returns to American Folk.
I’m not sure exactly when I will open Vessels of Abundance, but know that I will. Internet access has been spotty at best, and I have only today been able to get out to the gallery and start responding to all of the incredible friends of the gallery that have been so worried about us. Until we have more reliable internet access and phone lines, the gallery will remain closed. Stay tuned for news on that front.
Everyday, my fella and I go out into our sweet little town and experience the most incredible community support. We are asked constantly if there is anything we need, and the truth is that there isn’t, because we have so much. It will be an incredibly long road, but I believe we will make it. With all of the fellowship I have witnessed in our area of Swannanoa and Black Mountain over the last few days, it’s hard to believe we won’t be able to find our way back.
Take care of each other. See you soon.
Our website is full of wonder from a variety of selectively curated contemporary self-taught artists from Texas all the way to Maine: Painters, Whittlers, Carvers & Potters. If you see something you would like to purchase, come on by or reach us by phone 828-281-2134 or email folkart@amerifolk.com
We are open from 11AM – 5PM, Monday-Saturday, and are happy to answer your questions and finalize shipping details, no matter how you prefer to get in touch with us.
American Folk represents over 30 makers with one goal in mind: To expose the world to the creative powers and originality of our artists. Their visions bring life, color, joy and complexity to our gallery and to your home. Self-taught art can range from what is referred to as naive all the way to the exquisitely contemporary. We know these folks and only purchase directly from them. Some have garnered world-wide attention, some are exclusive to American Folk, but all have a unique way of expressing their world & their hearts. We are inspired by them every day…and you can be too!
Phone consultation is available regarding individual pieces that you are interested in. We love to talk about the artworks we present in the gallery! We can ship or hold and offer Curbside Pickup if that feels right. Great care is taken in the wrapping & boxing of the artwork to be shipped, giving you confidence that all aspects of your purchase are handled properly.
We offer Custom Picture Framing for any treasured piece that you would like to proudly preserve and display. All framing is performed right here in our workshop.
Gift Certificates are available in any denomination.
